1967 Volvo 1800 Restoration
I own a 1967 Volvo 1800 which I've been restoring for far too long. This list is an attempt to document the steps required to finish my project and keep me motivated.
general
- order new motor mounts (2010.03.01)
- tighten bell housing bolts
intake / exhaust
- order new intake manifold gasket
- install exhaust header
- install intake manifold
- have exhaust from the header back built
carburetors
- order new carburetor gaskets
- install carburetors
- install carburetor linkage
- fill dashpots
- tune while engine is warm
fuel delivery
- order new fuel pump gasket
- order new fuel line
- order new fuel filter (2010.03.01)
- install fuel pump
- fuel cell with sump
- run line from sump to pump
- run line from pump to filter
- run line from filter to front carb
- run line from front carb to rear carb
cooling
- order new upper coolant hose (2010.03.01)
- order new lower coolant hose (2010.03.01)
- order hose clamps
- install radiator
- install coolant hoses
- fill coolant system with water and pressure test
- check for coolant leaks
- measure water temperature while running
- make sure thermostat is working when engine reaches temperature
ignition / charging / electrical
- order new ignition wires
- order test light
- install ignition wires
- set distributor angle with cylinder 1 TDC
- review wiring to and from alternator
- test alternator output when running
lubrication
- order new oil filter
- change the oil
- find new dipstick seat-ring for block
- check for oil leaks
